You'll also learn how to use AWS Amplify and React to host the Forge Viewer to build clients custom web dashboards with authentication for your clients. AWS Amplify is a complete solution you can use to build and host full-stack applications, letting you concentrate on app development and avoid spending time and money on server maintenance and complex admin tasks. Adding database, account authentication, file storage, and several other functions can be achieved quickly using a command line interface, which makes it very easy to start new projects.

This masterclass will cover how to link PlanGrid with next-generation BIM 360 Docs software by utilizing the power of data collection through BIM 360 workflows and PlanGrid field reports. The speaker will be able to demonstrate the added benefit of being able to maximize data for trend analysis via Microsoft Power Bi and automatic modeling by integrating the output with Dynamo software. Federal, state, local, and city governments are setting ambitious targets for reducing energy consumption of existing buildings through building retrofits. A challenge has been the scaling of energy analysis across large building portfolios in order to identify and prioritize the buildings and retrofit measures. Prior methods were limited to single buildings, but this session will introduce new capabilities that enable evaluation of entire building portfolios with minimal data inputs required. Results are presented dynamically in the context of a digital model and a custom Forge-based building portfolio management dashboard that serves as an executive summary for users or consumers of the rapid energy modeling (REM) tools, and enables easier communication and understanding of the workflow and results with clients. The session is intended for owners and managers, including the Department of Defense (DoD); federal, state, and local government; airports; higher education; architectural firms; and planning entities.

In this class, we will introduce you to BIM 360 Docs software’s API. BIM 360 Docs software is a cloud-based document management system tailored specifically for construction projects. As the document at the center of BIM 360 family products, BIM 360 Docs software promises to play an important role for unified development of the BIM 360 mobile and web platform. BIM 360 Docs software provides an API as a part of the Forge Platform Data Management API. Using the Forge Platform API, you can access documents stored in BIM 360 Docs software, display models using the Viewing API, and search data in the model. Using the API, for example, you can automate updating models from external applications, make a report to keep track of a team’s progress, and connect your own web services applications with BIM 360 Docs projects. Document management and control for construction is an ever-evolving challenge. Trying to meet standards, naming conventions, and the approval process all provide challenges of their own. BIM 360 Docs software gives us one piece of the puzzle and Forge software is the other. CAD software requirements are drastically changing from the traditional use of desktop-based software usually consumed by the design department. Demand for cloud-based CAD web apps (also consumed by non-technical executives) is increasing. In the class, we will see how the Forge platform and various cloud infra providers can be utilized together to create modern-day vertical CAD configurators as per the specific need of each organization. Based on stats and test cases, we will demonstrate how a serverless CAD configurator can scale up massively to address the peak-hour needs of industry while staying low on budget. We will explain how Forge services can help us to bootstrap our applications and reduce the development time to as few as just three months, and bring down the development cost substantial.

Within the industrial water market, it can be a real challenge to bridge the gap between tools that are great for designing buildings and tools that are great for designing process plants. Achieving design synchronization between spatial and schematic designs with a high level of confidence is the ultimate goal. However, producing process schematics and spatial drawings and managing the equipment data becomes complex when dealing with traditional data silos in current project execution processes. True data-driven workflows will require innovation and disruption to achieve next-level results. This is one story of how Revit software, Dynamo, and Forge have helped us look at this traditional problem from a new perspective. We’ve solved some longstanding challenges, and we still have some unanswered questions, but we’re excited and optimistic about the possibilities for the future.

Learn how to implement Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) processes through the use of iConstruct. This class will develop the skills required to process the model from the desktop to the cloud utilizing the iConstruct Forge AWP application. Learn about the opportunities to create efficient workflows through the use of the iConstruct tool suite and how this will enable efficient Work Package management in the Forge Viewer. Learn strategies on how to optimize the model, such as changing the hierarchy of the model, data integration, status visualization, work hours, and the addition of further Work Pack attributes. This class will explain how to manage and improve the construction process of linear infrastructure projects with BIM 360 software in order to improve data quality and reduce costs and time by 60%. The digitalization of these processes enables us to retrieve relevant data and information directly in the construction site, reducing wastefulness and promoting sustainability. Currently we are managing roughly 150 projects with BIM 360 Docs, BIM 360 Field, and BIM 360 Project Management software. For these projects we mainly implemented three processes: the quality check, the inspection survey in BIM 360 Field, and the design variation check. The workflows are valid either if the project has been developed with BIM methodology or through the traditional method. The management of the company can use data and statistics to analyze the progress and the status of the works through powerful dashboards made with Forge. We will show the workflows improvements with a clear metric analysis.

Sabesp is the largest sanitation company in the Americas and one of the largest in the world. It is responsible for water supply and sewage collection in 375 municipalities, serving 28+ million people. The company's large numbers are accompanied by complex challenges. This presentation will explore the experience of an ambitious corporate building information modeling (BIM) implementation program, in its first wave of implementation. This implementation has as one of its main objectives the development of and access to asset information with a focus on commissioning. RPA (robotic process automation) is growing fast. RPA is mimicking the repetitive human activities with software robots. Almost 25-30% of every project has repetitive tasks that are done by engineers, designers, and modelers, including data copying from Microsoft Excel to a software, headers and footers for drawings, drawing info extraction, conversions, analysis, and so on. For some of these activities we use plug-ins, programs like Dynamo software, coding like VBA, .NET, and Forge. But these are specific to each software and work for a specific task. In this session, I'm going to introduce an innovative solution using RPA that works with most Autodesk software, including AutoCAD software, Civil 3D software, Revit software, and Navisworks software. You will see RPA in action preparing inputs, transferring data between different sources, performing analysis, extracting data, filing data, generating reports, and much more, aiming to automate your business processes. Prefabrication and automation in offsite construction requires building models to be rich in data. The generation of construction drawings, creation of a bill of materials and the application of fabricated information is required in the model. In wood construction for example, it requires modeling of accurate processing (precutting) and assembly of prefabricated items including tooling (e.g. nailing and milling operations). All this, including derived data in the form of CNC files, shop drawings, etc., needs to be accessible by all stakeholders - the builders, prefabricators and project managers. Contemporary rail projects are vastly complex due to an intersection of several key factors. The deliverables and support that agencies and contractors ask for are scaling with new technology. These technologies are relatively new to the rail design space, and there are currently no precedents for implementing them. On two similar rail projects, tailored workflows and custom automation tools were developed in order to deliver the required standard documentation, visualization, clash detection, and asset management deliverables. The synergy between automation, connected BIM, and creative project workflow were essential to the execution of these projects. In this session, we’ll examine the project needs, collaboration between BIM 360 software and ProjectWise, and automation with the Subassembly Composer, Dynamo, Forge, and LISP.
